He was born on August 1, 1944, to William and Henrietta Rast in Aiken, South Carolina. He graduated from Aiken High School and proudly joined the Air Force in 1962, serving in Vietnam until 1968. Afterward, he worked as an air traffic controller until the 1981 PATCO strike.
Bob married Diana Beauregard on August 11, 1980. With a wife and family he tried various careers before becoming a union truck driver, a job he loved, and later retired from. Bob continued to give back by teaching truck driving and inspiring others to drive. In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle to places like Daytona, the Smoky Mountains, and Sturgis. He was also a NASCAR fan and admired Dale Earnhardt. Bob is survived by his wife, Diana, 6 children, 21 grandchildren, and a lasting legacy.
