Samuel Leroy Wright, 79 of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on September 4, 2017. Sam was born in Gorman, TX on January 5, 1938. He was married to his loving, devoted wife Hatsuko for 57 years raising 2 daughters and was blessed with 4 grandchildren. Sam served in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician and retired after 20 years as rank of Sr. Chief. He most enjoyed time with family, fishing, gardening, reading and fixing nearly anything. He was a devoted Christian and active member of Whitehouse Baptist Church. Sam is preceded in death by his parents Samuel C. and Mollie Wright and sister LaJauna Obar. He is survived by his wife Hatsuko, daughters Linda (Todd) Martinez, Donna (Steve) Shore, grandchildren Jennifer (Kevin) Badaszewski, Sam and Daniel Martinez, Kaitlyn Shore, sisters Waunell (Clyde) Files, Kay Ann (Kenneth) Davis and many other beloved relatives. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5-8pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:30am with interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:00pm.
