She attended public schools in Jacksonville and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1955, where she played saxophone in the marching band. Sandra attended the Mather School of Nursing at the Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans and later received her LPN certification. Her nursing career began in Labor and Delivery at Baptist Hospital where she discovered her passion for pediatrics. She worked as a pediatric nurse for approximately 45 years.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Woody and Carolyn Fish, and her brother-in-law, Reid Baggett.
She is survived by her sister, Judith Ann Baggett, daughter, Gail Smith (Ron), nephews, Danny Fish (Anne-Marie), Michael Baggett (Sherrie), nieces, Debi Fish (Laurie), Donna Patrick (Michael), Julie Kivett (Brian) and a number of great nieces and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
A Memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
