

Sara (Kathy) Reeves Sheppard, 87, passed away on January 1st, 2020. She was born in Woodruff, South Carolina on December 18th, 1932, the daughter of Nellie Pauline McCleskey and Sam Winster Reeves Sr. Adopted by Step Father Henry Virgil Etherton in 1946.
Kathy, raised in the Miami area, attended South Broward High School where she played softball, was captain of her school swim team and a cheerleader. Kathy worked with the South Florida Primate facility and water skied for Cypress Gardens before beginning her carrier as a flight attendant with National Airlines, ultimately serving as a Divisional Supervisor. She transferred to Jacksonville FL in 1960 where she met and married Roy Connor Sheppard Sr. in 1961.
Kathy's love of God and family were simply extraordinary, devoting her life to a nearly 59 year marriage, Church (especially her Sunday School Class) and home. She was an active and supporting member of Avondale Baptist Church, Lake Shore Baptist Church, Rainbow Assembly for Girls and Riverside Order of Eastern Star, becoming Worthy Matron in 1977. Her volunteer work continued throughout the years, where she mentored and worked with the PTSA and several Duval County Schools for well over a decade.
One of her personal passions and surreal dedication is shown with the Tournament Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL where she volunteered for 33 years, along with several years at the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Kathy's immediate family includes Husband; Roy Connor Sheppard Sr. Son; Chris V. Sheppard and step-sons; Roy C Sheppard Jr, Michael T Sheppard. Grand Children; Roy C Sheppard III, Melissa J Lynch, Caroline Q Sheppard and Dillon M Sheppard. Daughter-In-Laws; Lori Sheppard and Laura Kuhnell.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy has requested memorials made to the Shriners Hospital For Children, St Judes Children's Hospital and American Breast Cancer Foundation.
