Born August 29th, 1933 Shirley was the daughter of Baxter and Florence Jones.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, as well as brothers Baxter “Bud” Jones Jr. and Arthur “Bo” Jones along with her sisters Iva Lee Green, Novlyn Volkmann, Elizabeth Varner, Mary Prevatt, and a daughter Angela Mcgovern.
Shirley is survived by her husband Carl Buss of Jacksonville, son Scott Steger of Gainesville Florida, and grandsons Korey Mcgovern of Jacksonville, Edward, Adrian, and Shawn Steger of Gainesville, Florida, and her sister, Betty Cox of Phoenix Arizona and brother John Paul Jones.
Shirley had a special way of making everyone feel loved and accepted. She was compassionate and loyal, and her kindness knew no limits. She spread love wherever she walked, made all those around her laugh and smile with her humor, and comforted all with her affection. Shirley’s positive energy and radiant spirit will live on through those she loved. Shirley was a member of the Jacksonville Temple of the Daughters of the Nile Organization, and was a tremendous fan of Florida Gator Football and NASCAR. Shirley enjoyed going to the beach, her annual trip to Daytona Beach with Carl, or a girl’s trip with her nieces, or just being outdoors on a sunny day. Always current with the latest women’s wear, Shirley loved the color pink, which was apparent in the majority of her current fashion. As the sun rises, and sets, with the sky a pinkish hue remember Shirley and the joyful memories brought too so many family and friends.
