October 13, 1933 – September 1, 2025
Vera Dell Hale Bass, 91, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on September 1, 2025.
Born on October 13, 1933, in Lee, Florida, to John and Utha Hale, Vera grew up with a gentle spirit and a strong faith that guided her throughout her life. Known to many as "Nana" or "Nana B," Vera had a heart full of love and a home full of warmth. She had a talent for cross-stitching and was more often than not, found with a needle and thread in hand, hemming a garment or creating something special for someone she loved. Her fondness for butterflies reflected her own gentle transformation through life—always graceful, always full of beauty. Her greatest joy came from caring for others. For over 40 years, she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, touching the lives of countless children and planting seeds of faith in young hearts. Her legacy of kindness, patience, and faithfulness lives on in the many she taught and served.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Edgar Bass, parents: John and Utha Hale, siblings: Willard, William, James Teaford, May, Elizabeth, Dorothy and Pauline. Vera is survived by her two devoted children, Gayle (Larry) Cason of Jacksonville, Fl and Mike (Penny) Bass of Jacksonville, Fl, brother Eddie (Catherine) Hale of Lee, Fl, five grandchildren, Scott, Wendy, Buddy, Keri, and Danielle; and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply and prayed for daily.
For those who knew her best, you know that she never let a loved one leave her sight without saying, "I love you to pieces," a phrase that now echoes sweetly in the hearts of all who will miss her so dearly. So as we say goodbye to her here on this earth, rejoice with her family for we know that if you are also a Believer in Christ like Vera Dell Hale Bass, you will get to hear her say those sweet words someday in Heaven!
