

Vivian Christie Denison, 97, died in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, March 13, 2021. She was born in Lake City, Florida to the late John L. and Sadie North Christie on August 13, 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Perryman H. Denison, and had served as a supporting minister’s wife to him as they served churches of Christ in Moultrie, Georgia and Florida churches in Live Oak, Macclenny, Lake City, Cocoa and Jacksonville. In 1972, She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Jacksonville University and began a teaching career in elementary schools of Duval and Baker Counties.
Being raised on a small family farm might have contributed to Mrs. Denison’s amazing “green thumb” and her love of gardening for which she was well known. She was known by her neighbors as “The Plant Lady” as she generously shared her plantings with neighbors and friends.
Mrs. Denison is survived by her sons Hubert (Marilyn) of Jacksonville and Jim (Renee) of Sellersburg, Indiana; grandchildren Elizabeth Campagna (Jeff) of Furlong, Pennsylvania, Sarah Lin (Matthew) of Palmetto, Florida, Tabitha Denison of Frisco, Texas and Jessica Farrel (Caleb) of Jeffersonville, Indiana; great grandchildren Vivian and Charlotte Campagna, Knox Newman and Elijah and Olivia Lin. There are many others who rightfully consider themselves to be a son or daughter of Mrs. Denison, especially Carolyn Terry (Bill) of Maryville, Tennessee and Cornelio Pena of Miami, Florida, both of whom having lived in Mrs. Denison's home in their youth.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida.
