Walter Thomas Jacob, Sr., 80, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013. He was born on February 13, 1932 in Washington, DC to William Franklin Jacob, Sr, and Elizabeth Morris Jacob. Walter served honorably in the United States Navy between 1951 and 1956. Walter was a distinguished member of the Shriners as well as a volunteer for such organizations as The Suicide Prevention Hotline and Pet Rescue North. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Jacob, Jacksonville, FL.; his children, Hope Jacob-Dreisbach (Robert), Sarah Jacob, Lori Edkin, and Jason Edkin; 2 grandchildren, Jenny and Katie; his sisters, Pat Jacob, and Betty Lou Shaffer as well as a number of great- grandchildren, nephews and nieces. The family visitation will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32205. Graveside Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 2:30pm, Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL., 32218.
