Waltraut Liese King passed away Monday, May 7th, 2018 after a long struggle with several illnesses. She passed quietly in her sleep at home, with her husband by her side, right after a recitation of the 23rd Psalm by dear friend Joan Touchton. She had been cared for at the end by Community Hospice and often by friend Cristina Leiss. Our grieving will never end but her suffering has.
Born Waltraut Liese Kroehler in Dexheim, Germany she was the daughter of Friedrich Kroehler and Sidonie Bechtel. She is predeceased by her sister Helene Korneffel of Long Island, NY and son Robert R. King of Jacksonville, FL. She is survived by loving husband David A. Dial, sons Gary L. King and Eric E. King (Diane), and beloved granddaughter Melissa H. King, of Jacksonville. In Germany she is survived by sister Iris Stepp and nieces Antje Stepp and Ulrike Gutjahr, and by brother Fritz Kroehler (Imgard) and nephew Friedel Kroehler and niece Ute Kerz, and may other family members.
Known as Liese she met her husband in 1973 and together started Dial & King Dental Laboratory in 1976, still in operation today. They married in 1986 and so much enjoyed these many years together. She loved her home and family greatly, as she did trips to the mountains of North Carolina every year. She adored hummingbirds and watching them while sick was a great comfort to her. She was a member of The Garden Club of Jacksonville and past member of The Decorative Artists of Jacksonville. She excelled at so many things, but especially the art of friendship. A true friend to many, she had many in return, in recent years the circle of German Ladies and their Tuesday luncheons. Character, compassion, and empathy were her trademarks. There was no better person or better friend one could have.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 at Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205, with a reception at the funeral home to follow.
