Born January 24, 1976 in Groton, CT, Wendy was the daughter of Fred and Karon Casteel. She grew up in the Gwinnett County area of Metro Atlanta.
She met Matthew Stueck in October of 1995 and they were a perfect match, marrying on August 10, 1996. She is also survived by her two children, Jacob and Jessica, whom she loved deeply. She is survived by her mother, Karon, and her three siblings, Gregg, Geoff, and Misty.
Wendy was a truly special person. She rose to each new challenge she faced and excelled at every one. She built a loving and beautiful home when asked to move to Jacksonville. When tasked with creating and running a new nursery ministry at a church start-up in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, she rose to the challenge. Diligently researching, staffing, and executing with extreme love and excellence, Wendy's dedication was evident. A pastor once expressed concern about her intensity, to which the response was, "There is nothing to be afraid of, support her and get out of her way. She will make it great." And she did.
As a room mom for her children's classrooms, Wendy again showed her diligence, excellence, and attention to detail, ensuring every child felt loved and their needs attended to. She was able to do this for each of her children through middle school.
These experiences prepared her for a great challenge when she joined the People Services team at RF-SMART. She became the unofficial room mom for a company that grew to over 400 people. Wendy made sure everyone felt loved and appreciated, greeting each person, employee or visitor, by name with a big smile as soon as they walked in the door. She constantly reminded herself to love more, never seeing the status quo as acceptable. Many employees said they joined RF-SMART, in part, because of the loving greeting they received when they arrived for their interview. Wendy truly lived out the mission of changing the lives of those she interacted with.
Wendy loved to read and travel with her family, making many trips to places around the world. She retired in March 2024 with her husband to pursue a dream of full-time RV life, exploring every nook and cranny of the USA. She especially wanted to explore the Mighty 5 parks in Utah. Her most recent trips to the Mediterranean and Alaska are special treasured memories.
Wendy was a follower of Jesus Christ and is truly an example of a Proverbs 31 wife and she will be deeply missed. Today, she is in the arms of Jesus where there is no pain and only joy. We will see her again when we get there in God's timing.
A Visitation will be held for Wendy on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Rd North, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
