

Wilber Seth McCullough, JR., 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 2, 2014. He passed away peacefully in his sleep with his children by his side after a brief illness. Wilber is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Lancaster McCullough; his parents Wilber Seth McCullough, Sr. and Georgia Pert McCullough; his brothers Wallace P. McCullough, Eston McCullough and John G. McCullough. Wilber is survived by his four children: Wilber Seth McCullough, III (Jeannie), Ronald Scott McCullough, Sr. (Sue), Jane McCullough Willis (Steve), and Jody Flint McCullough (Kathy); nine grandchildren: David Vance McCullough, Matthew Seth McCullough, Lori McCullough Allen, Ronald Scott McCullough, Jr., Barrett Lee McCullough, Jennifer Willis Meaders, Steven Alan Willis, Jr., Tasha McCullough Barbaree, and Meagan McCullough Moss; and nine great grandchildren. Wilber was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and he pitched in Lee's State Championship games. Wilber went on to play professional baseball where he pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals. He is a Naval Veteran having served in World War II. Wilber worked as Regional Supervisor for Servicemaster, Inc., and later for Baptist Medical Center, Inc. until his retirement. He was a faithful christian and member of Woodstock Park Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband and father always putting his family first. He was always faithful to his family and loved spending time with them. Viewing will be held Tuesday, May 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205 (904) 781-9262. Family and friends will gather Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home for his services, then he will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park immediately following the services.
