MGySgt William R. Leisher, USMC Ret., 85, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born October 2, 1931 to Oscar and Katherine Leisher in Hagerstown, MD. William retired from the United States Marine Corps after 35 years of service, including combat tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. William was awarded numerous medals and commendations, including the Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was a member of the Marine Corps Association and loved country and Gospel music, watching movies, traveling, and Sudoku puzzle. William loved his family, his cat Blackie, and he loved the Corps. William is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Charlotte. He is survived by three children Ken (J.J.) Leisher, Susan Leisher, Sharon Leisher, one sister Jo Mowen, one grandson James as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and his special friend Janice Heavener. A visitation for friends will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 5-7 PM in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home. Funeral services to be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 10 AM in the chapel with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Well done, Marine. You are relieved from your post.
