Winston James Black, 88, was called home to be with the Lord on December 6th, 2025, in Jacksonville, FL. Winston was born July 28, 1937 in Baxley, Georgia. He moved to Jacksonville shortly after where he then attended and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1954. Following high school Winston joined the Navy Reserves where he served for four years. Winston was a Master Electrician at Miller Electric for years and retired in 1999. After retirement Winston spent his free time volunteering with The Mission picking up and delivering donations to those in need. He was a proud child of God and an active member of his church, North Jacksonville Baptist, prior to falling ill. You could always find him talking about God, saying prayers, and blessing the food at family events. He was very active in the lives of his family. He
attended sporting events, dance recitals, and so much more.
Matthew 25:21 "His master said to him, "Welldone, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.""
He is survived by his wife, Faye, of 60 years, children Jenny(Bruce) of Cummings, GA, Jimmy(Carolyn) of Cummings, GA, Janine, Renaye, and Missy(Chris). Grandchildren: Jay, Tyler(Brieann), Allison, David(Kayla), Mitch (Rachael), Dustin (Monica), PJ, Courtney, Colby (Julianna), Cristyn (Zac), and Caitlyn (Kyle). As well as his great-grandchildren, Paul, Savannah, Nevaeh, Joseph, Tristan, Gavin, Juliette, CJ, Kaleb, Koa, Ivy, Cecelia, Abigail, Blakely, Colton,
Cori and Cove. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston Daniel, known as WD, and Bea, brother Lamar.
Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
A memorial service will be held at a later date, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
We would like to say a very special thank you to the staff of Haven Hospice, who took great care of Winston until the very end. His goofy personality, Iong prayers, and overall warmth will be truly missed. He will be fondly remembered by all his family and friends. It is hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember. We seek comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, in the best place he could be - free from pain and suffering. Winston had the biggest most generous heart and was one of the humblest of souls.
"Go rest high on that mountain, son your work on earth is done."
