Janet Carol Smiley (Ding), age 72, of Keego Harbor, MI died November, 7 2010, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Janet was proud to have been one of the first woman Deputy Sheriffs in the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department. Later she worked at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where she worked for 20+ years. After retiring, Janet delighted in volunteering every Wednesday at the West Bloomfield Public Library Gift Shop. Beloved Mother of Roger Smiley III (who preceded her in death this July), daughter, Mary C. Lewis (John) of Waterford; son, Kenneth V. Smiley (Cindy) of West Bloomfield; daughter Tricia S. Wood (Robert) of Grosse Pointe. Loving Grandmother of Jami George, Jodi George, Joanna Pursiful, and Logan Wood; and Great-Grandmother of three; Cherished Sister of Lois Lado and Mary Gregory of Reno, Nevada, and Ken and Keith Korolden, who preceded her in death. Loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service 4-7pm Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Oakland County Boat Club 2330 Ferndale, in Sylvan Lake, MI.
