

Underwood, John Loyd, 90, formerly of Pontiac. December 21, 2012. Cherished husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” for 62 years. Loving father of Heather A. Underwood and Jane E. (Bruce) Snyder. Beloved grandfather of Allyson Carr, Kristin Carr, Elizabeth Snyder, Kirsten (Matthew) Williams and Caitlyn Snyder. Great-grandfather of Alejah Tate. John entered the Air Force in 1942. After completing his cadet training, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the 15th Air Force. He went overseas in June, 1944. As a Pilot of a B-24 Liberator based in Italy, John flew 35 missions totaling 247 combat hours in the air. He later became commander of the Air Reserve Unit in Pontiac. He worked for 40 years in Management at General Motors. John was a 50 year member of Mid-Forest Lodge where he was an avid hunter and fisherman. A man of faith, he attended Church wherever life took him. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Service at 10:30 a.m. at the Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian, 5171 Commerce Rd., Orchard Lake.
