

Ronald (Ronny) Alan Whitney of Gladwin, Michigan passed away at Trinity Health Oakland Hospital in Pontiac on March 26, 2026 at the age of 72. Ronny is survived by his brother Terry Michael Whitney (Wanda) and sister Sandra Kay (Whitney) Roach; his nieces and nephews, Jerrilyn Renee (Whitney) Sanders-Hartway (Duane), Christina (Roach) Jacobs, Connie (Roach) Osgood (Rob), Shantell (Cordell) Whitney-Abu-Ageel (Atef), David Whitney (Candice), and April (Roach) Schoenemann (Uwe). He adored children and all of his great nieces and nephews as well. Ronny was preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Donna (Klopf) Whitney, his brother Howard Lee Whitney, and his niece, Tonya Whitney.
Ronny went an hour each day to Lansing Michigan School for the Blind and ran track there. He worked as a janitor as well as a factory worker when he was young. He was very proud of his braille books and loved to show his family the wonderful books on tape the library kept him stocked with. He loved Westerns, history, and all sports. Ronny loved his family and looked forward to all picnics, weddings, family dinners, birthdays, and holidays. He also loved blind bingo and his Pontiac Lions bingo family.
Late in life, Ronny gained a new family with Jeff and Amy (Wells) DeLoye and all of their wonderful foster men and boys. Ronny loved you all deeply and considered you his brothers.
Ronny will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his sister, Sandy, for the many years of loving care and support she provided Ronny and to Michael Clark, who lovingly cared for Ronny and was his best friend and brother.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Scott Lake Baptist Church, 811 Scott Lake Road, Waterford Twp, MI at 1 PM. He will be laid to rest with his parents at All Saints Cemetery, 4401 Nelsey Road, Waterford Twp, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pontiac Lions Club to support the Blind Bingo Program that Ronny loved.
