

Barbara Jean Bailey, 68, of Killeen was gathered into the arms of Jesus on April 23 at a Temple hospital. The wake for Mrs. Bailey is to be held Friday, April 29, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Christian House of Prayer in Copperas Cove with burial at 4:00 pm at Shady Grove Cemetery, Doyle, Texas.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Doyle, Texas on July 30, 1942 and is preceded in death by Nokomis and Ethelene Jackson, Sr.
Barbara attended Kate Long and Woodland public schools in Limestone County. In 1958, the family moved to Midland and while in Midland, she attended Carver High School. Barbara confessed Christ as her Savior at an early age and united with Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. G. T. Curry.
In 2002, after moving to Killeen, Barbara united with the Christian House of Prayer under the leadership of Bishop Nate Holcomb. She remained a faithful member until her health failed.
Barbara and Woodrow Bailey united in holy matrimony in August of 1960. She was the proud mother of one daughter and three grandchildren which were the joy of her life.
Her interests included family, crocheting, and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother, who passed away at age 73. For 68 years she graced us with her lovely presence, a source of support, strength, and encouragement for her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Lillian Johnson of Killeen: brothers Nokomis (Doris) Jackson of Fort Worth and Milton (Carolyn) Jackson of Bryan; sisters Doris (Charlie) Franklin of Cheyenne, Wyoming and JoAnn (Robert) Green of Harker Heights; an uncle, Lester Busby of Wortham, Texas; grandchildren Shenteria Johnson-Clayton, Lyndon Johnson, and Shavon Johnson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
