Billy L. Turner of Granbury, formerly of Killeen, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Regency Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas
A Memorial Service, led by Pastor Mark Forrest, will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 10:00am.
The family will receive friends and well-wishers from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Monday evening, October 13th at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas.
Services for Bill will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 3310 S. WS Young Dr., Killeen, TX. Pastor Bob Ray will officiate.
Mr. Turner was born on January 16, 1931 to Willie and Virginia Turner in Coryell County. He graduated from Flat High School in 1949.
Following graduation, Mr. Turner was a member of the Army National Guard and worked in Civil Service at Fort Hood. In December 1957, Mr. Turner began working alongside his brother-in-law, Tommy Joe Mills, at Modern TV and Appliance which was opened in downtown Killeen. He retired from Modern TV in 1993 and moved to Granbury.
Mr. Turner was an active member of the Killeen area community. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a faithful member of the Killeen Lodge for more than 57 years. He served as Master of the Lodge in 1963. He was also a member of The Shriners, The Kiwanis Club and Jaycees. He served on the board for the Killeen Independent School District and Central Counties Center for MHMR Services. Mr. Turner was a member of the Killeen Chamber and Commerce, and served as a City Councilman for 13 years, serving as Mayor from 1975 to 1976.
Billy Turner was a wonderful man full of character, strength, dignity and love. He was a respected businessman, loving father, husband, brother and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanie Elliott Turner; his Father and Mother, Willie and Ginny Turner; two brothers and a sister, Stanley Turner, Jack Turner and Birdine Botkin.
He is survived by his wife, Dicksy Turner of Granbury, by his two children, son Kurt Turner and his wife Kathy of Burleson, and daughter Rhonda Roth of Granbury, and stepchildren, Stacey Shepherd and her husband Robb, and Scot Owens. He was also blessed with four grandchildren; Sarah Roth, Klayton Turner, Matthew Owens and Benjamin Shepherd.
Pallbearers are Keith Turner, Steve Turner, Zane Turner, Dustin Stewart, Brady Bond, Colby Parker, Courtney Mills and Cullen Mills.
