

CHARLES EDWARD DUNLAP
MSG Charles Edward Dunlap, aged 86 years, has gone to be with the Lord on February 20, 2025.
He was born on November 11, 1938 in Camilla, Georgia as the youngest of 4 siblings, yet held the responsibilities of the family and greatest love of his nieces and nephews to the present day.
Charles joined the United States Army immediately after graduating Monroe High School in 1956.
He then married his high school sweetheart, Lorene Payton, in the summer of 1961 while pursuing his military career in electronics engineering.
They have celebrated 63 years of marriage, blessed with 3 children, Crystal Elaine, Charles Edward II, and Curtis Elliot on their life journey together.
Charles enjoyed spending time with many of his family and friends. He was an active member of the VFW Post 9191 Color Guard and held the responsibilities of Treasurer as well. Participated in Marching 100 ‘The Sound of Pride' for VFW District 14 in 1995. Was the Honor Guard Captain of Texas District 14 and a VFW Gold Circle Member. He was honored for recruiting over 100 new VFW members in Killeen for 1992-1993. Charles participated in the order of Masons, using the values that he learned to aid others over the years. He was a member of the American Poolplayers Association (APA) becoming an avid pool player, involved with various leagues in Killeen and participating in many of the championships held in the Central Texas area.
Faith in the Lord was the foundation in Charles' life journey. For over 40 years Charles loved to serve at Comanche Chapel, as a valued member of the Brotherhood and doorkeeper for the Lord, ushering with wisdom and kindness, often ready to serve in any capacity that he could.
