Charlie James Cahee was born in Newbern, Alabama on September 21, 1943 to Alvin and Earia Cahee.
At the age of 2, his family moved to Roanoke, Louisiana where he grew up, went to school, learned the value and importance of family love and unity, and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
At age 20, Charlie joined the United States Army, married his high school sweetheart, Maurdy Edwards and their first daughter, Pamela Renee Cahee Jones was born. In 1971, while stationed in Germany the family was completed after the birth of their second daughter, Earia Elizabeth Cahee.
In 1979 God called Maurdy to her heavenly home, leaving Charlie to raise the 13 and 7 year old girls.
Through a brief marriage to his second wife, Charlie gained a son, Darren Lucas, who he had a very close and loving relationship with. Charlie also gained a daughter, Kenna Collier Jackson, whom he loved dearly, through his marriage to Bessie Reynolds Collier.
Charlie always had a deep love for being an athlete. A true love for competition and camaraderie. From learning to play baseball as a young boy with the men of Roanoke, to celebrating his 80th birthday on a pickleball court still showing us how to do it and doing what he loved.
During his military career, Charlie distinguished himself as a talented and versatile athlete. He earned a championship belt as a boxer and had the memorable experience of competing against and defeating the legendary King and His Court softball team. He also played in numerous military basketball leagues, where he faced remarkable talent, including the renowned Harlem Globetrotters and several former NBA players.
While stationed in Korea, Charlie further showcased his athletic ability by competing in table tennis against accomplished champions. His competitive spirit remained strong throughout his life, as he continued to win tennis tournaments and free throw competitions well into his 60s. In later years, he found great joy in pickleball, becoming an avid player and staying active in the sport until he no longer was able.
Charlie loved the Lord and ministered The Word of God everywhere he went. He never met a stranger and he had no problem telling anyone and everyone how important his family was to him and how much he loved his family.
To really know Charlie was to love him and he truly believed in showing love for one another, if he told you he loved you... you knew he meant it from his heart.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, one nephew, Edwin Cahee and his bonus parents,... J.B. "Pop" and Lorraine "Mom" Wilson.
Left to cherish many wonderful memories are Charlie's daughters and his son- in- law and love Roger Jones; four grandchildren Allana Carter, Deneldric (Kristina) Hudgens, Ariana (Tunde) Fiorello-Omotosho, and Jazmyne Cahee; three great- grandchildren Kaiden Fiorello, Elena Hudgens and Jaxxon Cahee; three sisters Susie Montgomery of Chicago, Illinois, Doris (Vernon) Riley of New Orleans, Louisiana and Marilyn (Samuel) West of Roanoke, Louisiana; one brother Joe (Tonga) Cahee of Welsh, Louisiana; many nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, church members and friends.
