June 28, 1949 - May 21, 2025
Killeen, Texas
Cora Lee Connatser Reynolds prayed with her whole heart, gave without keeping score, and loved people in a way that made them feel known. On May 21, 2025, at the age of 75, Cora took her final breath here on earth and stepped into eternity with her Savior—something she looked forward to with quiet confidence all her life.
Born on June 28, 1949, in Greenville, Texas, Cora was the daughter of Joseph Nelson and Lois Adele Connatser. She was the youngest of three sisters in a military family, growing up with Betty Jo and Rebecca “Becky” Ann. Though she moved frequently as a child, her roots were always strong—in her faith, her family, and her quiet determination.
Cora graduated from Eastern Hills High School in 1967 and later earned a degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington. She went on to earn multiple educational certifications and spent much of her professional life working in education. She served as a behavior aide, tutor, and parent liaison with Killeen ISD—roles in which she provided unwavering support to students and families alike.
She was more than a list of accomplishments. Cora was the phone call that made your day better, the hug that felt like home, and the prayer whispered on your behalf when you didn’t even know you needed one. She believed deeply in the power of faith, in lifting others up, and in showing up—again and again—with grace, strength, and compassion.
Cora met the love of her life, MSG Lawrence “Larry” Reynolds, at a church youth event. They married at Handley Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, and for 48 years, they walked through life’s sweetest and hardest moments side by side. Together they raised two children, Stacy and Michael, who were the center of her world.
She poured her heart into her family and community, volunteering with Girl Scouts, PTA, Band and Baseball Boosters, and her church, Memorial Baptist in Killeen. During Desert Storm, she helped form the Family Support Group for military families. Her faith wasn’t something she simply believed—it was something she lived. Every. Single. Day.
Cora adored her grandchildren and prayed for them daily. She found joy in quiet things—cross-stitching, reading, puzzles—and great adventures, like traveling through Europe, marveling at castles, tulips, and windmills. She also had a lifelong love for animals and made room in her heart for each beloved pet she welcomed home.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Reynolds; her daughter, Stacy Marston and son-in-law Troy, along with their son Joseph; her son, Michael Reynolds and daughter-in-law Karen, and their sons Blake and Jason. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty VanZandt (Bill) and Rebecca “Becky” Connatser, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-great nieces, and many treasured friends.
Cora was surrounded in life—and now in memory—by a circle of love that will not end with her passing. If you knew her, you know your life was better for it.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Memorial Baptist Church in Killeen, Texas. If you plan to attend, wear what she would’ve loved—something that feels like you. Come ready to laugh, cry, and thank God for the gift she was to all of us. Following the service, the family will gather at 12:30 pm for a private lunch. All are kindly invited to reconvene at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas at 3:00 p.m. for the committal service.
The family asks that you honor her memory in the way she lived: do something kind. Help someone. Say a prayer. Support a cause that lifts others up. That’s how she would’ve wanted to be remembered.
