

Funeral services for Cordelia Kesler Carter 88, of Killeen will be 9:00am, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen with Reverend Skipp Blancette officiating. Graveside services will be at the Zephyr Cemetery on Zephyr at 2:30pm.
Mrs. Carter passed away March 12, 2009, in Killeen. She was born to Dan and Rebecca Lanie (Belvin) Kesler at Grosvenor, Texas on December 10, 1920. She is the last of five children born to their marriage.
Mrs. Carter was reared and educated in Zephyr where she graduated from high school in 1939. She attended Daniel Baker College in Brownwood graduating with a B.S. in elementary and secondary education in 1943. She later attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene graduating with a Masters in Education in1952. She taught school at Zephyr, Lake Merritt, Mullin, and Killeen. She retired after 36 years in the class room in 1981. In 1993 she received her Golden Diploma from Howard Payne University celebrating 50 years since her graduation.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester E. Carter, Sr. on October 22, 1967, her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include Dan (Danny) H. Carter of Killeen, Lester (Les) E. Carter, Jr. of Harker Heights, three grandsons, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
