Derrick Michael Russian of Aliquppa, Pennsylvania was born on January 21, 1977 to Michael Russian Jr. and the late Patricia "Patty" Reisinger. He passed away on January 5, 2023 in Killeen, Texas. He lived in Pennsylvania until the early 90's while his father was stationed in Killeen, TX. Derrick spent most of his summers as a child in Cook Forest, Pennsylvania camping and swimming. He planned on relocating to his home state before his sudden death.
Derrick was a brilliant building engineer with a career that expanded over 20 years in HVAC and building maintenance with many companies including the massive Marriott Hotel expansion in the Texas Hill country area. Derrick loved to tinker in woodworking and anything that could be plugged in and blinked; he always kept up with the latest electronics and technology. He found a new hobby when he became a stepdad in building lego sets with his son Thomas. His parenting style was "don't tell your mom" and the house was the pit stop for jumping on sofas and nerf gun wars with the kids and nieces and nephew. Derrick loved being a dad and uncle to the most amazing children. Derrick was that one guy who could fix anything and was always ready to help where he could. He was known to fix neighbor's ac units for free if they couldn't afford it or have it fixed by reputable company. He also gave advice on setting up any kind of entertainment system.
Derrick was preceded in death by his beloved mother Patricia "Patty" Russian, maternal grandparents Ester and Frank Reisinger Jr, uncle Frank Reisinger III, parental grandparents Helen and Michael Russian Sr and his aunt Patricia Russian.
He is survived by his father Michael Russian Jr; his best buddy and son Thomas A Patterson (19); daughters Mary Ivory Patterson (23) and Victoria Nicole Patterson (21); Derrick's two cousins Scot Reisinger and Sarah Reisinger-Hester.
There was nobody like Derrick and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
A Memorial Service for Derrick will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home.
