

Dorothy Ann Berry, longtime resident of Killeen, was born on December 2, 1932 in Paris, Texas, and passed away on January 5, 2012 in Temple, Texas at the age of 79. She endured a long illness but was prepared to be with our Lord in Heaven.
Mrs. Berry grew up in Killeen and was a graduate of Killeen High School. After school, she met and married a wonderful soldier, then Lt. Arnold Dean Kniffin, over the next 8 years she gave birth to 3 boys. In 1964, Maj. Kniffin went to Vietnam and was killed in June of 1964.
In 1968, Mrs. Kniffin married a man known to everyone in Killeen, Derwood Berry, and they were married on Feb. 24, 1968. Mr. and Mrs. Berry were married for 36 years until his death in October of 2004. During those years, they traveled much of the world, remained faithful members of the Killeen Church of Christ, and enjoyed collecting and loving their family and friends.
In addition to being preceded in death by the two loves of her life, she was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gibson, her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Gibson, Jr., and other aunts and uncles.
Mrs. Berry is survived by her 3 sons, David Kniffin and his wife, Lauri, Drake Kniffin and his wife, Sally, and Daniel Kniffin and his wife, Pam. She is also survived by her daughter, Holly Guest and her husband, Johnny. She has 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Charles D. Gibson.
Mrs. Berry was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She always put her family and friends before herself. She was also a faithful Christian and all who knew her are sure of her place in Heaven.
Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 8, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home from 3-5 pm. The service will be on Monday, Jan. 9th, at 1:00 pm at the Killeen Church of Christ. Dan Carter and Boyce Edwards will conduct the service.
Mrs. Berry will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we are all happy she is at peace, and with her 2 great loves of her life, Dean and Derwood.
