

Services for Francis Louis Giacomozzi, Jr. will be held at the Killeen Civic & Conference Center at 3601 So. W. S. Young Dr. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Killeen City Cemetery with full Police Honors. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Killeen.
Chief Giacomozzi passed away on March 24th. He was born on September 16, 1942 in Riverside, New Jersey. He graduated high school in Fort Knox, Kentucky and later attended the University of Louisville and the University of Central Texas where he earned both a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Criminal Justice, and was selected to attend and graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy.
He served on boards for the Boy Scouts, the Central Texas Council of Governments, and the Killeen Civil Service Commission. He was a police officer in the city of Killeen from December 28, 1965 to April 30, 2000. He rose through the ranks from Patrolman to Chief of Police. He was the Chief of Police for 20 years. Upon retirement he taught Law Enforcement courses at Central Texas College. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and jack-of-all-trades whose greatest love was his family.
He is survived by his parents, Colonel (Ret.)and Mrs. Francis L. Giacomozzi, Sr.; his wife Mary; two sons Brian and Chad; two grandsons Austyn and Luke; brother Robert and nephews Rob and Andy. He was AWESOME!
