George Edward Mahalko

He was born August 28, 1939 in Stanley, Wisconsin to George E. and Evelyn (Hodowanic) Mahalko.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

He attended Taylor County Teachers College in Medford, WI receiving an Associate of Arts in Elementary Education, The University of Tampa receiving a Bachelors of Science in Social Services, The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX receiving a Bachelor of Art in Business Administration, and American Technological University receiving a Master of Science with a major in Management Science and a minor in Business.

He married the love of his life on August 8, 1959 in Huron, Wisconsin.

Major Mahalko retired from the United States Army in August of 1985 after more than 28 years of service. Major Mahalko was decorated with the Bronze Star, National Guard Achievement Meritorious Service, National Defense Service, US Vietnam Service, Korean Defense Service, Joint Service Commendation, United Nations Korean Service, the Vietnam Campaign, and numerous commemoratives.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, reading, and spending time with his family. He was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who he knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father George E. Mahalko and mother Evelyn (Hodowanic) Mahalko, and sister Darlene Mahalko.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Florence Mahalko; two daughters, Brenda Jean Mahalko-Hall of Copperas Cove, TX; and Carla Anne Larsson and husband Ricky John of Tomball, TX; a brother, Kenneth Mahalko and two sisters, Betty Callahan and Arlene Victory, all of Wisconsin; three grand children, Dustyn Larsson, Jonathan Hall, Ashley Larsson and one great grandchild, Reiny (Larsson) Hutto, numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
