

SFC (ret) Glenn D. Bean, 73, of Nolanville, died June 20, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 23, 1938 in Barnum, WV to Floyd Kemp and Lela White Bean, the third of seven sons. He enlisted in the Army in 1956, serving in Vietnam with four of his brothers. Glenn was especially proud of his career as a Mess Sergeant. After retiring in 1976, Glenn went to work in the Water Department for the City of Killeen, working his way to the Head of that department. When his wife became ill, he retired, only to return that same year, this time as an Inspector in Underground Utilities. He continued to work until esophageal cancer forced him to retire in 2002 with a total of 24 years with the City of Killeen. In 1958 Glenn married Hilda (aka Penny) Greene. They had a daughter, Cheryl Lynn (Sherry). After 37 years of marriage, Penny lost her five year battle with cancer. In 1995 Glenn married Karen Arnold. They were married 17 wonderful years. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hilda, his daughter Sherry, and 3 brothers: Jim, Floyd, and Bill. Survivors include his wife Karen Bean of Nolanville, stepsons Dustin and wife Christie Arnold of Frisco, TX, Scott and his wife Brooke Arnold of Celina, TX, and Bill Arnold and friend Tonya of Cottonwood Shores, TX; daughter Sherry Ann Ferguson of Killeen; grand children Shelby and Jackson Arnold, Brandi, Justin, Tommy, Tiffany, and Wyatt, great grandchildren Shaylynn and Sadie. The Bean family will receive guests for a time of visitation on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 6-8 PM in the Chapel of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen.
