

Today we pause to celebrate the life and memory of a wonderful, God-fearing woman who transitioned from earth to life eternal on Thursday, December 14, 2019. Her spirit, faith and hope remained strong, serene and filled with dignity and grace the signatures of her life. She persevered throughout her life staying strong in her conviction.
Hazel E. Brown was born on June 16, 1929 in a small town called Oracabessa St. Mary Jamaica to Mildred and Earnest Lyon. She married Elliston J. Brown in Kingston in 1968. Hazel worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in New York, retiring in 1995. She settled in Killeen Texas 2012.
She loved to cook and bake the famous Jamaica rum cake for her kids and friends. Hazel was fashionable in her clothing and loved to shop. She loved outdoors, beautiful flowers and enjoyed gardening. Her hard work, caring nature, humor and love of life are some of the many traits that characterized this amazing and loving person.
Hazel Brown was an active member of Anderson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Killeen, Texas. She enjoyed singing and serving God. She attended Church until her health failed her.
She had four children: Richard, Derrick, Darian and Junior; and 7 grandchildren. Hazel was preceded in death by her siblings Norman, Clive, Erna, Faith and Sybil. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of friends.
