

Services for Herbert Wayne Woodruff, 72, of Killeen, will be on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 1:30pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Woodruff died on Saturday, March 3, 2012.
Herbert was born on January 6, 1940 in St. Paul, Virginia to Samuel P. and Bertha Buchanon Woodruff.
In 1961 he was drafted into the military. On March 3, 1962 in a small Baptist church in Minneapolis, in the middle of a blizzard, he married his lifelong partner, Betty Lou Granquist.
In 1970, the Woodruff’s relocated to the Killeen area. During his years in the area he was the owner of the Bamboo House of Beauty, and was employed by Arnold’s Plumbing following that. A short time later he joined his wife in the ownership of Bus Stop Records. Bus Stop was a main contributor to the music industry from San Antonio to Ft. Worth. They enjoyed the time they spent together serving the soldiers of Ft. Hood and the surrounding communities. They retired in 2002 so that they could spend time enjoying family, especially the grandchildren.
Herbert is preceded in death by his brothers Ray and Harold Woodruff.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Woodruff; son David and his wife Regina of Killeen; daughters Carol Woodruff of Gatesville and Linda Jensen and her husband, Chris, of Killeen; three grandchildren, Kara Martinez of Austin, Jacob Woodruff of Austin, and Markus Jensen of Killeen; sisters Ann Mathis and husband, Garland, of Tennessee, Betty Carver and husband, Bud, of Tennessee; sister in law Bernadette Woodruff of Killeen; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 6-8pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen which is in charge of arrangements.
