

Services for Inez Maxine Massey Hamilton, 87, a former longtime Killeen resident will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Crawford-Bowers funeral home. Burial services will follow at Shamrock City Cemetery in Shamrock, Texas
Ms. Hamilton passed away Aug. 26, 2015, surrounded by family and loved ones at Grace Care Center in Katy, Texas.
Born July 18, 1928, in Shamrock, Texas, to Julia Clark and William Rufus Massey, Maxine was raised in the rural Texas Panhandle, she was a standout basketball player at Samnorwood High School. She later attended St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Galveston, Texas, and was one of only 825 graduates in the school’s 71-year history. She was a registered nurse at Darnall Army Hospital at Fort Hood, Texas for 30 years. Maxine comforted many people in Killeen and Fort Hood throughout her life, an area resident for over 50 years. Maxine was always there for someone in time of sickness, working as a home healthcare nurse for several years. She was member of the Killeen Church of Christ. She will be missed by her entire family and all who knew her.
Maxine loved butterflies, bluebonnets, and country music. Whether it was to Alaska, Branson, Houston, or the Texas Hill Country, she always was up for a trip. The last several years, she lived at Grace Care Center of Katy and felt she needed to help run and keep the staff on their toes at all times.
Survived by three sons, Henry(Pam) Hamilton of Houston, TX, Charles(Nancy) Hamilton of Katy, TX, and Richard(Linda) Hamilton of Oldenberg, TX , seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister JoAnn Kelley(Garland) of Killeen, TX ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions in Maxine’s name may be directed to The American Red Cross, at www.redcross.org or a charity of your choice.
Services to be held at the Crawford-Bowers funeral home in Killeen, Texas visitation at 1 pm followed funeral services at 2 pm with burial in Shamrock, Texas.
