

Jackie Scott Vernon passed away on February 10, 2018 after a brief fight with cancer. She was born on July 30, 1932 in Bend, TX to Jack and Lucille Scott. Jackie moved to Killen when she was 9 years old and graduated in 1950 with the first graduating class of Killeen High School at the former Rancier Jr. High location.
Jackie later went to work on Ft. Hood for Civil Service working at Civilian Payroll where she met her husband and best friend, Jack Vernon. They married February 20, 1954.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Vernon and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Vernon Davidson and husband Russell and Scott Vernon and wife Michelle. She has five grandchildren Carter Lauck, Cameron Lauck, Spike Davidson, Ethan Vernon and Alexandra Vernon. Jackie lived her life by giving her all to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Killeen. Jackie loved to dance, read, cook for anyone, and needlepoint. She also spent numerous hours in the stands watching sporting events of her grandchildren and the University of Texas.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will be Thursday, February 15, at 11:00 am at Central Christian Church, 1301 Trimmier Rd., Killeen, TX 76541. Graveside services to follow at Killeen Cemetery.
