

James "Speedy" Myers, age 97 passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Speedy was born in Fort Worth, Texas.
James Howard Myers mostly known as Speedy lived a long and successful life here in Bell County. He started off joining the Navy at 18 years of age and boarded the Navy vessel the Minneapolis in 1945. After his military term Speedy went into Real Estate Investment and became one of the biggest investors in Bell County in the early 1950s he opened the first night club in Harker Heights and also opened the first black night club and hotel in Killeen. Mr. Meyers also placed top 10 in the first 2 World Series Poker Tours at his friend Benny Binions Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas Nevada. Speedy was a very unique individual and lived a very interesting life. He was a successful business entrepreneur and investor.
Speedy was preceded in death by his wife Annabell, son James Myers, and daughter Donna Myers.
He is succeeded by his son Donald Meyers and grandchildren Chavan Brown and James Lawhun. Speedy you will be greatly missed. Your legend will live on in all of our hearts. Job well done Speedy Myers❤️
A visitation for Speedy will be Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, TX 76542. Funeral service is Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Killeen Cemetery, 2408 E Rancier Ave, Killeen, Texas 76543.
