Deacon Johnny R. Diaz

Mr. Diaz will lie in state at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Monday, May 23, and Tuesday, May 24. A vigil service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Wednesday, May 25. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 26 at 10:00am followed by burial at Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery.

Johnny was born November 17, 1951 in Guayama, Puerto Rico, the son of Santos Diaz and Maria Anaya. He was a middle child of four siblings. On May 25, 1973, he married Julia.

He served in the U. S. Army and after retirement from the army, he was employed as a civilian contractor by Fort Hood. He went on to become a deacon in the Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Julia; a daughter, Carol Adames (husband, William) of Killeen; his parents, Maria Anaya and Santos Diaz; a brother, Jimmy Diaz of Guayama, Puerto Rico; two sisters, Norma Diaz and Iris Mabel Duprey, and three grandchildren, Kayne, Addison, and Ashton.

Arrangements for Mr. Diaz are under the direction of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home.
