

Josefa got her elementary and secondary education in the same town.
She worked at a hospital while taking courses to earn her Elementary Certificate in 1952. She taught grades 1- 6 as a substitute teacher for a few years, before passing the civil service exam for both junior and senior teacher. She then went on to hold a permanent teaching position in 1956 as a 1st and 3rd grade teacher. While doing that she attended night school to work on her Bachelor's degree which she received in 1960 at San Jose College. Josefa taught a total of 13 years in different county schools in the Philippines before coming to the states in 1967. Once here Josefa got hired on by School Superintendent Ivan Lauscher of Neillsville Public School to teach second grade. In 1972 she became a U.S. Citizen; taking courses and extension classes at the University of Wisconsin to get her Life Teaching License. She lived and worked in Neillsville till retirement in 1990 when she decided to move to Chippewa Falls, WI. She lived in Chippewa Falls, WI from 1990 to 2014 when she then decided to move to Killeen, Texas in April of 2014. Josefa enjoyed traveling, bowling, dancing, reading, and casinos.

Her parents Melecio and Ines Briones; her brothers Arsenio, Ariston, and Angel Briones; her sisters Emiteria Briones Aguila; and Inocencia Briones Maristela; and her niece Lisa Guevarra.
Josefa is survived by all 32 living nieces and nephews; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
She belonged to Wisconsin Retired Educators Association for a long time,and was a member of The Holy Ghost Parish, & The Chippewa Senior Center.
