Joyce Arlene Gilbert

Joyce was born Feb. 13,1964, in Virginia at the Portsmouth General Hospital at 5:01 pm to her mother Ruth Etta Wray and father Tom Oliver Summers. After graduating from Duncan U. Flecher H.S. in 1982, she later joined the army that same year. In 1983 at Fort Stewart, Joyce’s first duty station, she met James Gilbert Jr. who she married on Mar. 30, 1999. Joyce later on in life pursued a career as a funeral director and enrolled into the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service and graduated in 2010. Dec. 3, 2011 Joyce started her career job at Crawford Bower in Killeen, and became one of the best workers there.

Joyce is survived by her mother and sister; Ruth and Sonya Summers, Neptune Beach Fl.; brother, William Summers, Killeen TX.; daughter and granddaughter, Alysia and Tiona Thomas, Killeen TX.; son and daughter, Kenneth and Jasmine Gilbert, Copperas Cove TX.
