Larry K Cole

Larry was born in Pilot Point, TX on June 8th, 1937 to Geniva Morris. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1956. He later attended University of Central Texas, now Texas A&M University Central Texas with a Master’s Degree.

Larry was a member of the United States Armed Forces for 12 years; serving in Germany, Vietnam, and Korea. He served 12 years in the National Guard, being a liaison between the Army and Guard under General “Stormin” Norman Schwarzkopf. Larry was awarded 3 Purple Hearts, 3 Bronze Stars with V for Valor, and 2 Cross Gallantry one with Palm the other with a Gold Star. After his retirement from the military, he then became a Real Estate Fee Appraiser for 27 years. He served on many committees benefiting the City of Killeen such as Planning and Zoning for 16 years, and Killeen City Council for 5 years. He was also a member of Rotary, and the Gideon’s. He was a member of Skyline Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother Geniva Morris Heard, and his Great Granddaughter Mary Johnson.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nelwyn Acker Cole.

His sister Larynell Clay, and two nephews.

His son Clay Cole and wife Diane. Granddaughter Amanda Irvin, husband Robert and Grandson Michael Cole. Great granddaughters Abby and Caradin

His daughter LaKeith Cole Alley, and husband Will. Granddaughters, Shae Chavez, husband Hiraldo, Kristen Johnson, husband Andrew, Jessica Brey husband Chet. Great Grandchildren Briana, Mackenzie, Ajia, Shelby, Elario (Eli), Melanie, Francis, Bridget, Carter, Drew, Alley, William.

Services will be held Tuesday October 16, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Killeen at 10: 00 AM followed by burial at the Central Texas Veteran’s Memorial at 12:00. Visitation will be at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home on Monday October 15, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, to donate to the Skyline Baptist Building Fund, Gideon’s, or charity of your choice.
