

Funeral services with full military honors for 1SGT (Ret) Leonardo Hinojosa, of Killeen will be held 10 am Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
After celebrating his 74th birthday, Mr. Hinojosa passed away Friday in a Temple hospital after battling a terminal injury for three weeks.
Leonardo was born June 27, 1939 in Falfurrias, Texas to Casimiro and Hermina (Rios) Hinojosa. He retired in 1981 from the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. Among the awards and medals he received the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal (w/3 Bronze Service Stars); Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Army Commendation Medal (w/”V” Device & 3 Oak Leaf Clusters); Expert Badge (Pistol); Drill Sergeant Identification Badge; Good Conduct Medal (Clasp, Silver, 1 Loop); Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle); Meritorious Service Medal; and Bronze Star Medal.
After his military service, Mr. Hinojosa worked for 22 years recruiting soldiers after their military service to earn their college degrees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters and an infant son.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona Hinojosa of Killeen; three sons, Daniel (Sara) Hinojosa of Norfolk, Virginia, Rolando Hinojosa of Florence, and Richard (Pamela) Hinojosa of Temple; one brother, Casimiro Hinojosa of Falfurrias; one sister, Cande Soliz of Corpus Christi; six granddaughters, three grandsons, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home.
The family would like to offer special recognition and heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Scott & White Hospital, especially those who attended him on the 3rd Floor of the Special Treatment Center (STC) for outstanding care and compassion given to him and his family.
