

Margaret Lillie Craig, devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful friend, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024 at her home in Killeen, Texas.
Margaret was born in Leedey, Oklahoma on October 13, 1937 to William B. (Dutch) Barten and Grace Barten. She married the love of her life, Richard Craig, on August 30, 1958 at the church of Christ in Leedey, Oklahoma. She was a supportive Army wife who traveled around the world with Richard. They never stayed in one place for too long and throughout Richard’s career they lived in 19 homes. Margaret was a home maker, but also worked outside of the home before children and when the children were older. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide, Administrative Assistant and Accountant. She retired from Ft. Hood in 2001 after 20 years of service for the Federal Government.
Margaret enjoyed reading books and cooking. She especially enjoyed cooking everyone’s favorite dessert. She played basketball while attending school. In her spare time, she loved to bowl, water ski, study cookbooks to get new recipes ideas and watch the Olympics. Her favorite vacation was Hawaii. She was baptized as a teenager and an active member of Southside Church of Christ in Killeen for many years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace Barten, Son, Curtis Richard, Brother, Chris, and Sisters, Irene, Irma, Moneta, and Donna.
She leaves behind her husband of over 65 years, Richard Craig, Daughter, Leslie Craig Hallmark, Grandson, James Paul Hallmark and his wife and son, Kyra and Oliver, Grand Daughter, Lauren Nichole Hallmark, and Like-a-Granddaughter, Valerie Steele McCarn.
Margaret will be dearly missed for her graceful and encouraging nature, devotion to family, and love of God.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Margaret on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Southside Church of Christ in Killeen, TX at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at a later date, at Evergreen Cemetery in Leedey, Oklahoma.
