Marianne was born on May 6, 1936, in Bavaria, Germany, to Hans and Walburga Wirth. She was raised in Germany during the hardships of World War II, an experience that helped shape the strength, resilience, and resourcefulness that would define her throughout her life.
In 1956, Marianne married the love of her life, John Edward Burroughs. Together they built a loving family and shared many years of devotion and partnership. They were blessed with three children: Robert, Jo Ann, and Janice.
Marianne enjoyed a successful career as an office manager and bookkeeper in the automotive industry. She later dedicated more than 30 years of service to McLane Company, where she worked faithfully until her retirement in 2016.
A devout Catholic, Marianne was a proud lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen, Texas. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and guided the way she cared for others, served her community, and loved her family.
In her free time, Marianne found joy in gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She took great pride in creating beautiful things with her hands and sharing those gifts with those she loved. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, passing down wisdom and values that will continue to live on through future generations. One of her favorite lessons was, “Waste not, want not,” a phrase her family will forever remember. She also treasured her connections with family members who remained in Germany and enjoyed keeping up with their lives across the years and miles.
Marianne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Edward Burroughs; her parents, Hans and Walburga Wirth; and her brother, Hans Wolfgang Wirth.
She is survived by her children, Robert Burroughs and wife Barbara, Jo Ann Bellamy and husband William, and Janice Chancellor and husband Steven. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Carl White, John Burroughs and wife Ashley, Dawneva Watson and husband Paul, Megan Byrer and husband Nicolas, Justin Bellamy and wife Kristin, Kyle Bellamy and wife Kimberly, and William Gilbert and wife Olivia.
Marianne was blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren: Liam, Gracie, Vailen, Coryden, Lyla, Castiel, Lilith, Zarek, Charlie, Cooper, Zoey, Luke, Zeke, and one precious great-grandbaby on the way. Each brought her immense joy and pride, and she treasured every opportunity to watch her family grow.
Marianne's legacy is one of faith, perseverance, hard work, and unconditional love. Though her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her beloved John and is now at peace in the presence of her Lord.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
