Dang. I Left social media to find this out too late 💔.  You indeed were a light on earth we’re going to miss! Mom always ask abt “her crew” of kids she chaperoned in school. She would request the same kids every field trip and u were one of them 🫶🏾. Your mom being my teacher..us growing, learning & living life never stopped the love we exchanged. We LOOOVED seeing u share your family. You made it to us!  Rest well Marquita 🥺.

My dearest Kita. I remember your mom sitting on my hospital floor being pregnant with you before I underwent open heart surgery. I knew I had to get through that to see that little baby, and I did. You lit a room with your energy and that smile. Over time we lost touch but thanks to social media we were able to connect again laughing, commenting, sending each other videos for the last few years. I am so happy to have had those virtual moments with you.  The universe brought us together again and I am forever grateful. I love you to the moon.

Wow is all I can say. I am at a complete loss of words.  We began a friendship sooo long ago in middle school Madison Middle School! I'll never forget playing Volleyball together.  Your dad teaching me how to play dominos since you wanted to play and I didn't know how lol! We had so much fun growing as kids together navigating through life, boys, drama, n figuring out how to navigate through it all. We had sooo many sleep overs at your moms n were always trying to do something!  In this picture we dressed up for Halloween intending to be Charlie's Angles. We last spoke a few years ago n I was sooo happy to hear you married, had 2 beautiful kids and at the time was enjoying life so much. N that's exactly how I will always remember you with a huge smile no matter the battle.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of My Cousin

It still doesn’t feel real that you’re gone. I keep trying to gather all the memories from when we were little, and even if I can’t remember everything, the ones I do have mean so much to me.
I remember us playing tug-of-war at Grandma’s old house, laughing and getting into things we had no business doing. I remember you doing my hair and us getting fussed at by Grandma for running around too much. We spent so much time together as little girls, just being cousins, just being kids — and I’ll always hold onto that.

I also remember when you became a mom for the first time. I fell in love with your baby right away, and every time you came home, I was excited to babysit. Watching you step into motherhood was something I always admired.

Life took us in different directions, and we weren’t as close as we once were, but the love never went anywhere. You were a big part of my childhood, and I’ll always hold onto the moments we shared growing up.

Rest easy, cousin. I’ll always remember the little girl running around Grandma’s house with me — and the strong woman and mother you grew into. 🕊️❤️

Sending all my love. She was such a genuinely kind and beautiful soul — the kind of person who always spoke life, hope, and encouragement into everyone around her. Even though we hadn’t seen each other in person for years and mostly stayed in touch through social media, I still think back to the moments we shared in grade school. She had such a bright spirit, always smiling, always making people feel seen and cared for.

It’s hard to believe she’s gone, and my heart aches for her family and everyone who loved her. People like her leave a lasting impact — her kindness, laughter, and light will never be forgotten. She truly was one of a kind, and I’m grateful to have known her.

My heart is heavy as I say goodbye to someone who has meant so much to me. Marquita, you were more than a friend.  You were a light, a source of strength, and a constant reminder of what true friendship means.
From our high school days to all the years that followed, you kept me motivated and uplifted. Every time we caught up, it felt like no time had passed at all. I’ll never forget the joy of visiting you at your dad’s house with my boys  the laughter, the warmth, and the love that filled those moments.
You were powerful, kind, and inspiring in every way. I thank God for blessing my life with your friendship. I will miss you deeply, but I will carry your spirit and your love with me always.
