

Melida Lampa, Meling as she was affectionally called, was born and raised in Binalonan, Pangasinan a province of the Philippines on February 18,1934. Mrs. Lampa passed away on December 30, 2024 in Copperas Cove, Texas.
Her father was a pastor of a Methodist church. At an early age she received and accepted Jesus Christ. She attended a Vocational School and took on knowledge of accounting and in the Culinary field as a master baker. She loved to cook for her family and friends.
She was married to Rodulfo Lampa on June 18, 1952 and with that union came 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl. Years to come she and her husband were petitioned by her sister-in-law to come to the United States in 1972 and they lived in Los Angeles, Calif. A few years later, she and her family then moved and made Kansas City, Missouri their permanent resident. She worked at Western Auto Home Office and Mobil Oil Central Credit in Kansas City, Mo as an accounting clerk. She was a member of the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City, helping with cooking for festivals and parties. She was in church and continued on into her adult life. She was an active member of Swope Park United Methodist Church where she was a liturgist, a choir member and was in the United Methodist Women’s group.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodulfo R. Lampa; father Rev Dionisio Ladines, Sr; mother Leonida Castil Ladines; brothers Eleorepe Ladines, Arturo Ladines, Dionisio Ladines, Jr and Benjamin Ladines; one sister Floserpina Tabiendo. Son, Romel Lampa and one granddaughter Nicole Ann Lampa.
She leaves to honor and cherish her memory, her son, William Lampa(Nida)-Christina & Nicholas (Millicent) Charlotte and Poppy, son James Lampa (Nelia) Zachary (Jasmine), son Fred Lampa (Luciana) - Jaimee (Mark) Ella, Salem & Uriah Michael (Jocelyn) Liam, children of the late Romel Lampa - Mylanie (Ryan)-Aubrielle and RaeLynn, Mindy (Phil), Cindy (Jason)-Collin and Jonathan, Richard - Ezekiel, son Neil Lampa (Socorro)-Stephen and Joseph and daughter Filipina (Derek Sr)-Jamal (Rae) Maurese Justice Jamal Jr Aria Langston, Ciarra - Mahalina, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Copperas Cove Nursing and Rehab and Heart of Texas Hospice for the excellent care they provided to our mother.
A visitation will be held at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen on January 10, 2025, from 11:00-1:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM in the chapel. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.
