SFC (Ret) Michael Ray Eads Sr.

Mike passed on April 12, 2016, at home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on June 7, 1950 in Lafayette, Indiana, to Edzel Lee and Betty Jean Eads. He married Betsy Bird Oliver in Augusta, Georgia on November 21, 1979. He lived in the Killeen area for the last 30 years.

Mike retired after 20 years of service in the United States Army. He then worked at the PRC – Range Control on Ft Hood. Following that he worked at Wal-Mart #407 until his retirement in 2014.

As a child, he enjoyed riding bikes and taking naps under peoples’ porches. As an adult, he enjoyed fishing, watching football and kickboxing, and eating movie theater popcorn.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, Michael Ray Eads Jr.

Survivors include: his wife Betsy of Killeen, TX.; his three children: Kelly Mason (husband: Paul) of Lafayette, IN, Andrew Eads and Amanda Eads, both of Killeen, TX; his seven grandchildren: Nick and Peyton Jewell, Kearston and Cameren Eads all of Lafayette, IN, Michael Eads III of Somerset, KY, Alexis and Ashlynn Eads of Killeen, TX; his four siblings: Edzel Eads (wife: Becky) of Lafayette, IN, Jennifer Derment (husband: George) of Lafayette, IN, Donna Dillon (husband: Jesse) of Pond Creek, OK and Linda Eads of Michigan City, IN.

In lieu of flowers Mike requested memorials may be made in his name to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Refreshments will follow the service at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
