

Funeral Services for Nelly Josefa Perez De Jesus, 75, of Killeen will be at 12:00 P.M. Monday, June 5, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Killeen. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery, Mrs. Perez died May 28, 2017 at a Memory Care home in Temple. She was born September 3, 1941 in Coamo, Puerto Rico. She married her husband, Domingo Perez-Torres, February 20, 1962 in Wolfgang, West Germany.
Mrs. Perez moved to the area in 1974 with her husband and three Children. Shortly thereafter she started a career in food service working for AAFES at FT. Hood, where she worked herself up to management and became manager of many cafeterias and restaurants throughout her career, including “Nelly’s Place” and “Robin Hood” which was located near the old Four Season’s store. She also moved away for an assignment at Carswell Air Force base in Fort Worth, but returned to manage the Ft. Hood PX Food Court. She retired from AAFES in 2005. Mrs. Perez’s passions included spending time with grandchildren, family and friends; decorating and maintaining her country home and yard. She was also member of St. Joseph Church groups, Sociedad Cultural Hispanoamericana and “La Gangita”. She was loved by everyone for her outgoing personality and high energy. It will be impossible to forget someone who gave us so much to remember.
Mrs. Perez was preceded in death by her parents Rosa and Pastor De Jesus, her husband Domingo Perez-Torres and brothers Victor Manuel De Jesus-Perez and Rudy Pastor De Jesus-Perez.
She is survived by her Daughter Mayra Lassus and husband Felix; two sons, Leslie and wife Gail, and son Jorge. In addition, brothers Dr. Luis Guillermo De Jesus-Perez, Enrique Efrain De Jesus, and Pastor Rafael De Jesus, Sisters Lydia Maria De Jesus-Perez, Delgia Esperanza De Jesus-Perez, and Maria Josepha De Jesus. She also has seven grandchildren, Angelica Lassus, Eddie Diaz, Edward Diaz, Lela Perez, Lorenzo Perez, Jorge (Jake) Perez, Justin Perez and seven great grandchildren, Giovani Diaz, Cristobal Diaz, Gabriel Diaz, Ava Diaz, Jeremiah Diaz, Jase Perez, Jayci Perez.
Viewing will be will be on Sunday, June 4 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M, with a rosary starting at 2:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
