Novella Chloe Pfahl

Mrs. Pfahl died Feb. 12, 2012, at a Stephenville nursing home.

She was born Dec. 9, 1940, in Evening Shade, Mo., to Henry and Mabel Lee Hildebrand.

She graduated from Plato High School in 1958 and Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo., in 1962. Mrs. Pfahl retired after 33 years as an elementary teacher in Missouri, Kansas, Wyoming, California, North Carolina and Texas, teaching grades 1-6, special education, Title I, GED and Homebound.

She became a member of Roby Baptist Church in Roby, Mo., in 1954 and was a member of Harker Heights VFW Auxiliary, the Disabled Veterans Auxilliary and the Retired Teachers Association.

Mrs. Pfahl was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Melvin and Glen Hildebrand; and three sisters, Irene Cochran, Ozelda Havens and Maxine Helton.

Survivors include two daughters, Leslie Walker of Stephenville and Jennifer Swanson of Temple; granddaughters, Chloe Walker of Stephenville and Lilah Swanson of Temple; a brother, Gale Hildebrand of Plato, Mo.; and one sister, Josie Graner of Joshua, Texas.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
