

Paul Randall “Randy” Beaty, was born September 2, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas to Robert Paul and Audrey Florence (Evans) Beaty and was raised in San Antonio. As a child, he loved to play baseball and collecting baseball cards. He graduated in 1970 from John Jay High School in San Antonio.
In 1972, he entered the Air Force and served with the 3rd MOB for 4 years as a Communication Specialist. Then after a break to complete college and marry the love of his life, he re-enlisted in the Air Force. He then served another 23 years as a Weather Forecaster and then 16 years with the Civil Service doing the same job as he did in the military. During his military career the family lived in many different locations to include Midwest City Oklahoma, Fort Worth Texas, Charleston South Carolina, Garlstedt Germany, Little Rock Arkansas, Guam, and Fort Hood where he eventually retired. He absolutely loved being a weatherman.
In his early years of the Air Force, he loved playing softball with the guys. Some of his other hobbies were golf and bowling. While with his friends at the bowling alley, he met the love of his life, Audrey Jean Leard. On August 28, 1976, Randy married Audrey at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Together, they had two children, a son, Brian and a daughter, Amber. He loved having a family and was the best husband and father. There were family vacations to explore many National Parks.
In 1980, he received a Bachelor of Engineering Science from the University of Texas. He retired from the Air Force in 2000 after 27 years, earning the rank of Master Sergeant.
Randy’s primary occupation was a Meteorologist which he did until his second retirement in 2017. As well as traveling after retirement, he loved spending time going to sporting events, playing golf, solving crossword puzzles, listening to his classic rock music collection, watching British TV shows, and tending to the yard. But mostly he loved spending time with his family, especially being a Papa to his grandchildren. He was a big fan of the San Antonio Spurs basketball team, the University of Texas Longhorn football team and of course, the Dallas Cowboys. He was a catholic and attended Mass at many different locations with the most recent being St. Paul Chong Hasang in Harker Heights. He and Audrey traveled many places but among his favorites were Scotland, Ireland, England, Seattle, Niagara Falls, Washington DC and their cruise to the Bahamas.
Mr. Beaty passed Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Veterans Hospital in Temple, Texas after a four-year battle with lung cancer. He was 73.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, in 2010 and a sister, Wendy, in 2006.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Audrey Jean Beaty of Harker Heights; son, Brian (wife Erica) Beaty of Belton, daughter, Amber (husband Clint) Peterson of Salado; his mother, Audrey Florence Beaty; a brother, Wayne Beaty; a sister, Janan Beaty; and four grandchildren, Thomas, Adeline, Benjamin and Grace.
Services for Paul Randall Beaty, 73, of Harker Heights, are 2 pm, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home Chapel. Private graveside services will be at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
