I will always miss my Angel!

My Angel knew how to live and how to love!  She found joy in simple things and allowed herself to be in awe of the world around her.  Her love of travel, adventure, and discovering new things can be seen this photo of one of her first meals with our friends in Germany.  I am so happy that I was granted the time to share in many of her exploits!  I will forever love and miss this amazing woman.

The age difference between Aunt Ruth and I was such that as I was growing up, she was on adventures. I knew her through the stories of her accomplishments and adventures. She was inspirational to me as a young woman. I learned that you can join the army and be just as important as the men. You can travel the world and learn from other cultures. You can explore the world even if you come from a small dot on a map of western PA. There seemed to be nothing she couldn’t do or was afraid of, and I would find myself wondering, can I do that?  She was a wonderful woman who gave strength to everyone around her and I will miss her. 

You meet thousands of people in your life. Some make an impact, a positive force, something that leaves you a better person for having known them.

Ruth was such a person.

She was selfless, giving, forgiving, ever optimistic, compassionate, unfailingly kind, thoughtful, unflappable. Ruth was a humanitarian, educator, friend, leader, mentor - a woman who had a profound, positive influence on so many people.

She was one of a kind. She left us too soon, too young.

     Not sure which memory to share.  I met Ruthie 13 years ago when she came to Montague Village as our Curriculum Instructional Specialist.  Always had a smile on her face and always eager to get in there and help teachers grow.  
     When I found out she was a runner I told her I had always wanted to be considered a runner.  Next thing I know I was signed up for the Monster Dash 5k.  She told me that people dress up in Halloween costumes to run this race and that there were even prizes for the best dressed.  The day of the race I showed up with butterfly wings and antennae that I made out of balloons I'd twisted.  Between, Wayne, Ruth and I.....  We were the only ones I remember being dressed up!  This was the first of MANY fun times. 
     Then there was the day she turned 40.  Some people go out and party it up big.  Ruthie wanted her friends to join her in repainting the porch at Peaceable Kingdom!  This shows her servant's heart.  Always seeking to love others through acts of service.  
     And then there was the hobby hopping we did.  Anything I suggested she was game for.  I still have the Texas bird bath we made at CTC in my front yard.  Trapeze flying!?  Yes!  I made her go first!  You could not convince me that the little man in the blue spandex was going to catch me!  But, Ruth always made you feel like you could do things that you were sure you couldn't do.  
     Students.  She had a way with them.  Many times whether the child was in tears, in a tantrum, or waiting for a parent to come pick them up I would hear her say, "Come read with me".  Almost used as a greeting.   A greeting that welcomed them.  
     I love my Ruthie.  We had many conversations about so many things.  Silly, serious, and eternal things.  I long to see my Ruthie again.  I long to see her in Heaven where there is no sickness or pain.  May the Lord hold her close to His side until we see each other again. 



Ruth was a special friend. She brought so much joy, insight and caring into our lives. She lead me to her bookclub , 15 years ago and we were still sharing this time together until last month. One of my fondest memories is of her reading to my grandson Carlton when he was a baby. (He's 14 now).  She was a great strength to me and my family. I will miss her but I will always keep her in my heart. My sympathy and love go out to Wayne and her family. 

Every summer as a kid growing up in Indiana the highlight of summer school break was when Ruth Ann and the whole  Minkus Family cane to Indiana to visit their grandmother. That ment my brother Curt Fulp and I had  the whole minkus kids to laugh, joke, play cards and many games with for 2 full weeks. That was absolutely the highlight of our summer break and couldn’t wait for for them to arrive. Ruth Ann you will be truly missed. Prayers for her whole family in this time of sorrow and loss . God Bless you all 

Ruth was not only the best daughter-in law in history, but was a dear friend to me.  I still can't believe she will not be calling and saying, "Wayne and I thought maybe  we could...…………….. and I have a bag of books for you."  There is truly a hole in my heart.


Dear Wayne and family,
Ruth was a special young woman to me.  When we met in 2009 at Delta Kappa Gamma's Leadership Seminar, our common interests made us instant fast friends.  She will be missed greatly in our Society as well by your family.  Ruth had such a joy, laughter and optimistic outlook to all things.  Last year, she was still telling me it would be alright and she would triumph.  She has.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
