

Thelma was born on May 18, 1924 in Pylesville, Maryland, the youngest of eight children of Charles and Lena Keesee. In 1942 Thelma married Douglas Foight. During their 25 years of marriage they had four daughters and traversed the continent three times before finally making their home in San Diego. Thelma later married Michael Clark and moved to Burleson, TX.
Thelma had a variety of occupations during her lifetime. During WW II she was a secretary at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. She and Doug moved to a dairy farm in Whiteford, MD, close to their families. When finally settling down in San Diego, she opened and operated Peppy Pals Pre-School in Pacific Beach, CA. While residing in Burleson, Texas she worked for All Saint’s Hospital in the Food Service Division. After retirement, Thelma moved to the Killeen, TX area. Thelma Clark had a love of reading, embroidery, playing poker and the Texas Lottery . She was passionate for sports and enjoyed watching her grandchildren compete over the years. She loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Mavericks, the Texas Rangers and rehashing the games with her close friends. She was affiliated with the National Smooth Dancers in San Diego, CA, in the 1960s and recently with the Killeen Senior Centers. During her lifetime, she helped many children prepare for elementary school.
Thelma Clark is survived by her daughters families, Shirley Macon of San Diego, CA; Karla and Rick Sofaly of Killeen, TX; Romany and Ken Bowers of Escondido, CA; and Laurel and Kevin Spohrer of Cedar Park, TX. Thelma is survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 older sisters, Lena May Bedford, Hazel McGurk and Margaret Cooper. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Live Oak Cemetery on Live Oak Cemetery Rd, Killeen, TX on Monday, February 20, 2012 with a reception following at Karla and Rick Sofaly’s home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Bob Gilmore Senior Center, 2205 E Veterans Memorial Blvd, Killeen, TX 76543. Thelma’s family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Metroplex Hospital for their compassionate care.
Thelma Clark touched the lives of many people throughout her lifetime and will be fondly remembered. We love you and miss you.
