

Mr. Sims was born April 26, 1948 in Aberdeen, Mississippi to the late Jason & Emma Lou Sims. He was a graduate of Aberdeen High School, a former member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church there in his hometown. Mr. Sims served dutifully in the US Army for 20 years in the Food Service/Quartermaster Corp. While in the military he was stationed at various overseas and stateside locations. His last duty assignment was at Fort. Hood, Texas.
After retiring from the military he began working with the Killeen Independent School District as a bus driver he was there from August 1994 to March 2013. Mr. Sims was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Killeen, Texas at the time of his death. Mr. Sims maintained a love of cooking even after his retirement form the military.
Mr. Sims parents, Jason and Emma Lou preceded him in his death many years ago.
He leaves to mourn his passing a son, Michael (Killeen, Texas); grandchildren Raishon, Michael D'Wayne Jr. and Amerra Z. There are four brothers, Douglas (Martha) of McComb Township, Michigan, Jasper (Chong Ae) of San Antonio, Texas, William Sims of Atlanta, Georgia, a sister Doris (James) Jones of Columbus, Georgia.
There will be nephews, nieces, cousin and numerous friends that will miss his presence.
