

Timothy Tate was born to Leroy Sr. and Jesse Mae Tate on May 3, 1957 in Magnolia, MS. He was one of 14 children, one of 12 that survived infancy. He was known as Tim, but his favorite nickname was "Timmyson" given to him by his father.
He grew up in New Orleans, LA, but loved visiting family and spending time with his cousins in MS. He enjoyed gardening, fixing things, fishing, and cooking. After graduating from George Washington Carver High School, Tim went Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA to study agriculture. While there, he met Laverne Brumfield. They would be together for 23 years, married for 20 years.
Soon after being blessed with his first born, Brian, in 1979, Tim enlisted in the Army. His field was communications. His enlistment led him to several duty stations throughout his career including Fort Polk, LA, Frankfurt, Germany, and Fort Hood, TX, where his family settled in October 1986. In 1987, Tim was blessed with his second born, Lashanda. Tim was a member of the VFW having participated in the Persian Gulf War in 1991. In 1995, he was stationed again in Germany, and in 1997, He was assigned his last duty stationed in Fort Riley, KS. In 2000, He retired with 20 years of service from the army as an E7, Sergeant First Class.
Tim made Killeen, TX his home again upon retirement and later moved to Harker Heights, TX in 2014 until his death. He is preceded in death by parents, Leroy Sr. and Jesse Mae, as well as his siblings Dewayne Tate, Clara Brady, and Princess Alexander. He is survived by his ex-wife Laverne Tate; his children: Brian Tate and Lashanda Tate; his brothers: Leroy Jr. Tate, Lionel Tate, Calvin Tate, Stanley Tate; and Curtis Tate; his sisters: Melinda Tate, Sharon Tate, and Vera White; and a host of nieces and nephews.
