

Veda Kay was a retired high school English teacher whose love of language, literature, drama, and music enriched the lives of all who knew her. During her years in education, she inspired generations of students to appreciate the beauty of words, the power of storytelling, and the importance of lifelong learning. Her students were blessed to have her as their teacher as she was blessed to work with them in the classroom. Veda Kay will be remembered for her dedication to her students, her love of literature and the arts, and her joyful presence that brought comfort and inspiration to so many.
A devoted daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, Godmother, and friend, Veda Kay was known for her intelligence, warmth, and gracious spirit. She possessed a joyful heart and a deep appreciation for the arts, which she shared generously with those around her. Her kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering positivity made her a light in the lives of her family, friends, and former students alike.
Veda Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Kamal and Namat Waheed. She is survived by her loving sister, Leah, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish her memory always.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29th from 5:00 - 7:00 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home 1615 S. Fort Hood Street in Killeen. A service celebrating Veda Kay’s life will be held on Thursday, October 30th at 11:00 At First United Methodist Church 3501 E. Elms Road in Killeen. Family and friends are invited to attend and honor her remarkable life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Veda Kay’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, supporting research and education, or to your local no-kill animal shelter, providing medical and behavioral support to animals until they can find forever homes.
Veda Kay was a joy and light in our world. She will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
